Bottle Coolers vs POU (point of use) Coolers

Maybe if they weren’t called pou coolers they’d be more popular.

In reality I’m not going to do much comparing of the two cooler types, because I’m essentially dumbfounded that the bottle coolers are still commonly used today at all.

Ok, I understand if you’re the first aid person on a job site and you need clean water in your first aid trailer or maybe you’re on a temporary site, movie set, have no running water… but the rest of you don’t have an excuse.

Bottles are dumb in so many ways, let’s picture together the waterman walking up to your home or strolling past your cubical, standing tall, one hand on the bottle spout, bottle on shoulder, big cheesy smile.

For starters that dirty hand is holding the part of the bottle that goes inside the cooler, bacteria, common cold, sweat, dirt and you-don’t-want-to-know. Omg.

For those of you who store a few bottles in the back you can add some dust and air borne contaminants to the mixture.

So we know the coolers get polluted every time we add or remove a bottle. How often does your cooler and bottle get sanitized?

If the answer isn’t every time you might want to rethink what you drink. Have your cooler water tested and see for yourself.

And why would anyone want to pay so much for water, with hit and miss quality? Pure clean water can be made in a point of use cooler for pennies a bottle not dollars, and the quality of the water can be very high in comparison to the large bottles.

Bottles by the van load often end up in the landfill as we have seen in our local community repeatedly (even though they are recyclable plastics).

I recently met a woman who owns a very unique water company. She has bridged the gap with peoples nostalgia for the bottle and the pou cooler. Her coolers are pou and have a permanent bottle attached to the top. As it empties it refills the bottle.

Everyone is happy, She leases out the systems and completely maintains them, including sanitizing them when changing filters.

With a world of styles, shapes colors and filtration, straight filtration, UF systems, UV Systems, and reverse osmosis to choose from its a no brainer why the savy are choosing point of use.
