Creston is primarily an agricultural community with a strong forestry industry. Although only 6000 residents call Creston home the area has great cultural diversification.

Many of the new families moving into the area are attracted by the warmer climate which is sometimes compared to the Okanagan Valley area at certain times of the year.

The town's water has three official sources although the two wells are almost never used. Arrow Creek is the main source for the town and has a fairly modern treatment system.
